Please answer a few questions to help us determine your eligibility.

How to Check Your SSDI Payment Status

1. Log In to Your my Social Security Account

The fastest and most convenient way to check your SSDI payment status is through your my Social Security account at www.ssa.gov/myaccount. After logging in, you can:

  • View your upcoming payment date
  • Check your payment history
  • See any notices or updates related to your benefits
  • Update direct deposit or personal information if needed

If you don’t have an account, you can easily create one on the SSA website to monitor your benefits.

2. Review Your Bank Account

If you have direct deposit set up, check your bank account on your scheduled payment date. Payments are usually deposited early in the morning. If your payment does not appear:

  • Confirm your bank account details are correct with the SSA
  • Wait a few hours, as some banks process deposits later in the day

3. Check the SSA Payment Calendar

Your SSDI payment date depends on your birth date:

  • Birthdays on 1st-10th: Paid on the second Wednesday of each month
  • Birthdays on 11th-20th: Paid on the third Wednesday of each month
  • Birthdays on 21st-31st: Paid on the fourth Wednesday of each month

If you started receiving SSDI before May 1997, your payment arrives on the 3rd of each month, regardless of your birth date. You can find the full payment calendar at www.ssa.gov under the “payment schedule” section.

4. Call the SSA Directly

If you can’t check online or if your payment is late, call the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778). Representatives are available:

  • Monday through Friday
  • From 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

When calling, be ready to provide your Social Security number and personal verification information.

5. Contact Your Bank

If your payment is delayed:

  • Contact your bank to confirm there are no issues with your account receiving deposits
  • Ask whether they have pending transactions from SSA for your account

What to Do If Your SSDI Payment is Missing

If your payment hasn’t arrived after three business days from the expected date:

  • Call the SSA to report your missing payment
  • Request that they investigate and reissue the payment if necessary
